DENI has purchased a regional licence for CCEA-Alta Maths. This is now available free to all schools in Northern Ireland from the C2k managed PCs.

Having independently evaluated Alta Maths for Schools the report by the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) to the department confirmed,

"The overwhelming majority (98%) confirmed that this system developed mathematical skills and 80% said it had a significant impact on pupils' ability."

The Alta system also gets the approval of C2k, the government organisation responsible for delivering to schools high quality, sustainable infrastructure, connectivity and resources that meet strategic targets.

Jimmy Stewart, the Director of C2k notes,

"It delivers educationally reliable results, helps pupils improve their maths, teachers find it manageable to use, parents find it informative and over time it will help improve our standards in mathematics. This is a really effective way to use computers in the classroom, integrate them with teaching and support teachers."
